Description
“And so, perhaps, the truth winds somewhere between the road to Glastonbury, Isle of the Priests, and the road to Avalon, lost forever in the mists of the Summer Sea.”
― Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Mists of Avalon
Avalon is one of the faery places most strongly connected with our world. This connection has traditionally been found in Glastonbury, England. However, we can find it anywhere, as long as our intention is pure.
In this painting you see the Lady of the Lake, who represents the goddess Sovereignty, opening a portal between the worlds. Behind her, stands Glastonbury Tor, anchoring the portal. You will notice the elemental forms of Earth, Fire, Water, and Air, and the apple trees of Avalon surrounding the goddess. A golden dragon and white unicorn enhance the magical energy of the moment.
Whether you call them elves, faeries, Sidhe, or the Ladies of the Lake, the beings of Avalon are asking kindred spirits in the human world to wake up and remember them. It is time for us to rebuild the bridges between our worlds, for the sake of Earth, humanity, and the faery realm. The multiple-lemniscate image is a powerful symbol you can use to build your own bridge.
